Ring Account Management and Privacy Settings Configuration Guide

Purpose

This procedure is used when a customer needs to update account information, manage authorized devices, change privacy settings, review account security, update payment information, or manage personal data within their Ring account.


Customer Symptoms

Customer wants to:

  • Change account name
  • Change email address
  • Change phone number
  • Change password
  • Update payment method
  • Review devices signed into Ring
  • Remove old devices from account
  • Adjust privacy settings
  • Download personal data
  • Delete account data

Accessing Account Management

Ring App

  1. Open Ring app.
  2. Select Menu.
  3. Select Control Center.
  4. Select Account Management.

Ring Website

  1. Sign into Ring account.
  2. Select Account.
  3. Select Control Center.
  4. Select Account Management.

Updating Name, Email Address, or Phone Number

Procedure

  1. Open Account Management.
  2. Select Update beside the desired field.
  3. Enter Ring account password.
  4. Complete two-step verification.
  5. Enter updated information.
  6. Confirm information.
  7. Save changes.
  8. Verify update completed successfully.

Changing Ring Password

Use This Procedure When

  • Customer suspects unauthorized access.
  • Customer received a security alert.
  • Customer forgot password.
  • Customer wants improved account security.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Account Management.
  2. Select Password.
  3. Verify identity.
  4. Create new password.
  5. Save changes.
  6. Sign back into Ring if prompted.

Security Reminder

Never request or store a customer's password.

Ring employees and support personnel should never ask for a customer's password.


Updating Subscription Payment Method

Important

Payment methods for Ring subscriptions must be updated through Ring's website.

 Procedure

  1. Sign into Ring account on Ring website.
  2. Navigate to subscription billing area.
  3. Update payment information.
  4. Save changes.
  5. Confirm successful payment method update.

Managing Authorized Devices

Purpose

Authorized Devices are phones, tablets, and computers currently permitted to access the customer's Ring account.

Procedure

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Select Authorized Client Devices.
  3. Review device list.
  4. Identify unknown or inactive devices.
  5. Remove devices the customer no longer uses.
  6. Confirm active devices remain authorized.

Recommended Review

Advise customers to periodically review authorized devices for account security.


Managing Privacy Preferences

Use This Procedure When

Customer wants to:

  • Adjust privacy preferences
  • Limit advertising personalization
  • Review cookie settings
  • Manage third-party data preferences

Procedure

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Select Cookies and Third Party Service Providers.
  3. Review available settings.
  4. Enable or disable desired preferences.
  5. Save changes.
  6. Confirm settings were applied.

Managing Personal Data

Download Personal Data

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Select Manage Your Data.
  3. Select Download Your Personal Data.
  4. Enter password if prompted.
  5. Confirm request.

Delete Personal Data

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Select Manage Your Data.
  3. Select Delete Data.
  4. Enter password if prompted.
  5. Confirm deletion request.

Important

Deleting personal data may require deletion of the Ring account.


Troubleshooting

Customer Cannot Update Information

  1. Verify password is correct.
  2. Verify two-step verification is functioning.
  3. Confirm access to registered email address.
  4. Confirm access to registered phone number.
  5. Retry update process.

Customer Does Not Receive Verification Code

  1. Check Spam folder.
  2. Verify email address.
  3. Verify phone number.
  4. Wait several minutes.
  5. Request a new code.

Unknown Device Appears

  1. Change Ring password immediately.
  2. Review Authorized Devices.
  3. Remove unknown devices.
  4. Verify account information.
  5. Confirm two-step verification remains enabled.

Expected Outcome

Customer successfully manages account information, verifies account security, reviews authorized devices, adjusts privacy settings, and maintains secure access to Ring services.
