Understanding Wi-Fi Performance
Wi-Fi performance can be affected by:
- Gateway placement
- Building layout
- Number of connected devices
- Device capabilities
- Signal interference
- Outdated hardware
- Outdated software and drivers
Optimizing these factors can improve network performance and coverage.
Optimize Gateway Placement
For best performance:
- Place the gateway in a central location.
- Position the gateway upright.
- Place it on an elevated surface such as a shelf or desk.
- Keep the front of the gateway facing the primary usage area.
- Ensure the gateway is not blocked by furniture or walls.
Avoid Placement Near
- Cordless phones
- Bluetooth devices
- Microwave ovens
- Large metal objects
- Heat sources
- Moisture

- Extremely cold environments
Improve Coverage with Extenders
