Answer:

If music, podcasts, or other media are buffering, skipping, or not playing through Alexa, network connectivity and device placement are the most common causes.

Troubleshoot Streaming Issues

Reduce Network Congestion

• Disconnect devices you are not actively using.
• Limit heavy downloads or streaming activity on the network.
• Verify your internet connection is stable.

Improve Device Placement

• Move the Alexa device away from walls and large metal objects.
• Keep the device away from microwaves, baby monitors, and other sources of wireless interference.
• Place devices on a shelf or elevated surface instead of the floor when possible.

Optimize Wi-Fi Connection

• Connect compatible Alexa devices to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network when available.
• Verify the device has a strong Wi-Fi signal.
• Move the device closer to the router if necessary.

Note:

Amazon Tap devices do not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi connections.

Restart Equipment

  1. Restart the Alexa device.
  2. Restart the modem.
  3. Restart the router.
  4. Allow the network to reconnect completely before testing playback again.

Amazon Tap Devices

If using Amazon Tap:

• Ensure the battery is adequately charged.
• Verify the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
• Restart the device if playback issues continue.

Podcast Troubleshooting

If podcasts are not playing:

• Confirm the podcast service is supported by Alexa.
• Verify the podcast service account is linked if required.
• Test playback with a different podcast.
• Restart the Alexa app and device.
