Purpose
Use this procedure when a customer wants to view connected devices, manage device access, share Wi-Fi credentials, create device profiles, or monitor network activity using AT&T Smart Home Manager.
Customer Symptoms
Customer wants to:
- View connected Wi-Fi devices
- Identify devices on the network
- Rename devices
- Manage device profiles
- Block devices from Wi-Fi
- Run a device security scan
- Share Wi-Fi with guests
- Generate a Wi-Fi QR code
- Troubleshoot unknown devices
Understanding Smart Home Manager
AT&T Smart Home Manager allows customers to manage devices connected to their home network.
Customers can:
- View connected devices
- Edit device information
- Create device profiles
- Block internet access
- Share Wi-Fi credentials
- Monitor network activity
- Run device security scans when supported
Important
If Smart Home Manager cannot identify a device, it may appear as:
- Other
- Unknown
View Connected Devices Using a Computer
- Sign in to Smart Home Manager.
- Select Network.
- Select Connected Devices.
- Review devices currently connected to the network.
- Select a device to view additional information.
Edit Device Information
- Select the desired device.
- Select More Options (•••).
- Update device information.
- Save changes.
View Connected Devices Using the Mobile App
- Open the Smart Home Manager app.
- Select Profiles & Devices.
- Select the Devices icon.
- Review connected devices.
- Select a device to view details.
Manage Connected Devices
Depending on equipment and service availability, customers may:
- Rename devices
- Assign devices to profiles
- Block devices
- Unblock devices
- Run security scans
Share Wi-Fi with Guests
Share Using QR Code
- Open the Smart Home Manager app.
- Select My Wi-Fi.
- Select Share Wi-Fi.
- Display the QR code.
- Have the guest scan the QR code with their mobile device.
Share by Message
- Open the Smart Home Manager app.
- Select My Wi-Fi.
- Select Share Wi-Fi.
- Choose:
- Text Message
- Send the network information.
Important
Text sharing is only available through the Smart Home Manager mobile app.
Troubleshooting Steps
Device Not Appearing
- Verify the device is powered on.
- Verify the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
- Refresh Smart Home Manager.
- Restart the connected device.
- Check network connectivity.
Unknown Device Appears
- Select the device.
- Review available information.
- Rename the device if identified.
- Block the device if it is unauthorized.
Unable to Share Wi-Fi
- Verify the Smart Home Manager app is updated.
- Verify Wi-Fi service is active.
- Restart the application.
- Attempt sharing again.
Security Scan Not Available
Security scan availability depends on:
- Gateway model
- Service type
- Feature availability
Some equipment may not support all Smart Home Manager functions.
