myQ – Customize Garage Door Open and Close Controls

Answer:

The myQ app allows account owners to customize how garage doors are opened and closed within the app.

You can choose between:

• Single Tap
• Press and Hold

This setting is available in myQ app version 5.236 or later.

Important:

Only the account owner with a connected garage door device can change this setting. Shared users and guests cannot access Button Preferences.

Change Garage Door Control Method

1. Open the myQ app.
2. Tap the Gear (⚙) icon in the upper-right corner.
3. Select Button Preferences.
4. Choose one of the following options:

• Single Tap
• Press and Hold

5. Tap Save.

The new setting will take effect immediately.

Single Tap Mode

When enabled:

• Tap the garage door button once.
• The garage door will open or close immediately.

Press and Hold Mode

When enabled:

• Press and hold the garage door button.
• Continue holding until the progress ring turns completely blue.
• Once the ring is fully blue, the garage door will open or close.

Test Press and Hold Mode

1. Return to the Home screen.
2. Locate the garage door control button.
3. Press and hold the button.
4. Wait for the ring around the button to turn fully blue.
5. Verify the garage door opens or closes.

Good to Know

• Button Preferences are only available to account owners.
• Shared users cannot modify this setting.
• Press and Hold can help reduce accidental garage door activation.
• Single Tap provides faster access for frequently used garage doors.
• Changes apply to the myQ account and connected device configuration.
