Answer:

If the myQ app cannot control your garage door or displays an error, use the troubleshooting steps below to identify and resolve the issue.

Verify Mobile Internet Connection

The myQ app requires an active internet connection.

  1. Confirm your mobile device is connected to:
    • Wi-Fi, or
    • Mobile Data
  2. Open a website or another app to verify internet access.

Note:

The myQ app may briefly become unresponsive while switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data networks.

Test Using Mobile Data

To determine if the issue is related to your home network:

  1. Disable Wi-Fi on your mobile device.
  2. Enable Mobile Data.
  3. Open the myQ app.
  4. Test garage door controls.

If the app works on Mobile Data but not Wi-Fi:

• Restart your router.
• Check your internet connection.
• Contact your Internet Service Provider if necessary.

Common myQ Error Messages

Offline

Meaning:

The myQ device is not connected to the internet.

Resolution:

  1. Verify the router is online.
  2. Restart the router.
  3. Wait several minutes for reconnection.
  4. Confirm the myQ device reconnects.

If the device remains offline:

• Verify Wi-Fi signal strength.
• Move network equipment if needed.
• Reconnect the device to Wi-Fi if necessary.

Monitor Door Only

Meaning:

The myQ hub is connected to Wi-Fi but is not paired with the garage door opener.

Resolution:

  1. Verify the hub is paired with the opener.
  2. Complete the pairing process again if necessary.
  3. Confirm the garage door opener responds to commands.

Close Error

Meaning:

The garage door opener detected a condition preventing the door from closing.

Common Causes:

• Obstruction in the door path
• Misaligned safety sensors
• Dirty sensor lenses
• Sensor wiring issues

Resolution:

  1. Remove any obstructions.
  2. Verify both safety sensors are aligned.
  3. Clean sensor lenses.
  4. Test the door using the wall control button.
  5. Test the door using the handheld remote.

Once the issue is corrected, operate the garage door from the wall control or remote to clear the error.

Additional Troubleshooting

  1. Restart the myQ app.
  2. Sign out and back into the app.
  3. Verify the myQ device has power.
  4. Confirm the garage door opener is functioning normally.
  5. Update the myQ app to the latest version.
  6. Restart your mobile device.

Good to Know

• myQ requires internet connectivity for remote operation.
• Offline errors are commonly caused by router or Wi-Fi issues.
• Close Errors are usually related to garage door safety sensors.
• Monitor Door Only indicates the hub has not completed opener pairing.
• Testing with Mobile Data can quickly identify whether the issue is network-related.

Additional Offline Troubleshooting

If your myQ Garage Hub, Smart Garage Hub, or Smart Garage Control shows Offline in the myQ app:

Step 1: Verify Power

  1. Confirm the hub is plugged into a working outlet.
  2. Test the outlet with another device if necessary.
  3. Verify any indicator lights are illuminated.

Step 2: Restart Network Equipment

  1. Unplug the modem and router.
  2. Wait 10–15 seconds.
  3. Restore power.
  4. Allow internet service to reconnect.
  5. Check whether the myQ device reconnects.

Step 3: Check for Network Changes

If any of the following occurred:

• Wi-Fi password changed
• Wi-Fi network name (SSID) changed
• New router installed
• Router settings modified

The myQ device must be reconnected to Wi-Fi.

Step 4: Verify Device Status LED

Check the LED indicator on the hub or garage door opener.

The LED status can help determine:

• Wi-Fi connection status
• Internet connectivity status
• Pairing issues

Built-In Wi-Fi Garage Door Openers

For garage door openers with built-in Wi-Fi:

  1. Locate the Wi-Fi status LED.
  2. Verify the LED indicates a successful network connection.
  3. If necessary, reconnect the opener to Wi-Fi.
  4. Verify the opener appears online in the myQ app.
