Answer:
myQ Users allows you to securely share access to compatible garage doors, smart locks, and other supported myQ devices without sharing your account password.
You can invite family members, friends, guests, or service providers and control what level of access they receive.
User Limits
A myQ account can have up to:
• 1 Owner
• 2 Co-Owners
• 13 Household Users
• Quick Pass users for temporary access
Important:
myQ Users can only be managed through the myQ mobile app and are not available on the myQ website.
User Types
Owner
The Owner is the primary account holder.
Owner permissions include:
• Full device access
• User management
• Device settings management
• Schedule management
• History access
• Account administration
Co-Owner
A Co-Owner is a trusted person who receives most Owner permissions.
Co-Owners can:
• Open and close garage doors
• Control supported devices
• View history
• Create schedules
• Manage devices
• Invite users
• Use Amazon Key when available
Household User
Household Users are ideal for family members or roommates.
Household Users can:
• Open and close garage doors
• Lock and unlock supported locks
• Control lights
• Receive customized access schedules
Household Users cannot:
• View history
• Manage schedules
• Manage users
• Use Amazon Key
Quick Pass
Quick Pass provides temporary access without granting full account permissions.
Common uses:
• Dog walkers
• House cleaners
• Contractors
• Temporary visitors
Quick Pass features:
• PIN-based access
• Limited permissions
• No full account access required
Invite a User
- Open the myQ app.
- Navigate to Users.
- Select Add User.
- Enter the user's email address.
- Choose the user type.
- Send the invitation.
Invitation Requirements
• Invitations expire after 7 days.
• The recipient must accept the invitation.
• Users without a myQ account must create one before accepting.
Manage Users
To manage existing users:
- Open the myQ app.
- Tap the Gear (⚙) icon.
- Select Users.
- Choose the user you want to manage.
Available actions may include:
• Change permissions
• Update access schedules
• Convert Household User to Co-Owner
• Remove user access
• Manage Quick Pass PINs
Remove a User
- Open Users.
- Select the user.
- Tap Remove User.
- Confirm removal.
Access is revoked immediately.
Switch Between Multiple myQ Homes
If you have been invited to multiple myQ accounts:
- Open the myQ app.
- Select the account or property you want to access.
- Switch between locations as needed.
Important Notes
• Commercial door operators cannot be shared through myQ Users.
• myQ cameras can only be shared with Co-Owners.
• Quick Pass access is intended for temporary or limited-use situations.
• Owners maintain full control over all user permissions.
• Access can be revoked at any time.
Good to Know
• Sharing access is more secure than sharing account credentials.
• Co-Owners receive the highest level of shared access.
• Household Users can have customized schedules.
• Amazon Key functionality is not available to Household Users.
• Invitations must be accepted before access becomes active.
Accept a myQ User Invitation
- Download the myQ app.
- Create a myQ account if needed.
- Sign in to the myQ app.
- Tap Menu.
- Select Invitations.
- Open the pending invitation.
- Tap Accept.
Note:
• Invitations expire after 7 days.
• Shared devices will appear after acceptance.
• If devices do not appear, switch to the shared home.
Switch Between Multiple myQ Homes
- Open the myQ app.
- Tap the Home Name at the top of the screen.
- Select the desired home or account.
Tip:
You can rename homes using the Pencil icon.
Troubleshoot Missing Invitations
Verify:
• Invitation was sent to the correct email address.
• Invitation has not expired.
• Spam or Junk folders have been checked.
• The recipient created a myQ account.
• Devices were selected for sharing.
