Answer:

Home/Away Assist can automatically switch your Google Nest thermostat to Eco Temperature when nobody is home. Eco Temperature helps reduce energy usage by maintaining energy-saving temperature settings until someone returns.

Enable or Disable Eco Temperature

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select Home/Away Assist.
  4. Tap Nest Thermostats.
  5. Use the toggle switch at the top of the screen to enable or disable automatic Eco Temperature.

How It Responds

When Home:
• The thermostat follows your normal heating and cooling schedule.

When Away:
• The thermostat switches to Eco Temperature.
• Energy-saving temperatures are maintained until someone returns home.

Change Eco Temperature Settings

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Select Home/Away Assist.
  4. Tap Nest Thermostats.
  5. Select Eco Temperature.
  6. Adjust the heating and cooling temperatures you want the thermostat to maintain while the home is set to Away.

Important Notes

• Eco Temperature only applies when Home/Away Assist determines nobody is home.
• The thermostat returns to its normal schedule when someone arrives home.
• While operating in Eco Temperature mode, the thermostat may not start heating or cooling early enough to reach a future scheduled temperature before the scheduled time.
• Eco Temperature is designed to help reduce energy consumption while maintaining safe indoor temperatures.

Tip: Review your Eco Temperature settings seasonally to balance comfort and energy savings.
