Ecobee Thermostat - Schedule, Edit, and Cancel Vacation Mode

Purpose

Use this procedure when a customer wants to create, modify, or remove a Vacation schedule on an Ecobee thermostat to save energy while away and automatically return to normal comfort settings upon return.

Customer Symptoms

Customer wants to:

• Schedule a vacation
• Set away temperatures
• Save energy while traveling
• Adjust fan runtime during vacation
• Edit an existing vacation schedule
• Cancel a vacation schedule
• Manage vacation settings from the Ecobee app
• Manage vacation settings from the thermostat

Understanding Vacation Mode

Vacation Mode allows the thermostat to maintain customized heating, cooling, and fan settings while the customer is away from home.

The thermostat automatically returns to normal schedules when the vacation period ends.

Schedule a Vacation Using the Ecobee App

1. Open the Ecobee app.
2. Tap Home.
3. Tap Account.
4. Select Vacation.
5. Tap Set a Vacation.
6. Select Depart and choose the departure date and time.
7. Select Return and choose the return date and time.
8. Select Vacation Settings.
9. Configure:
   • Heating temperature
   • Cooling temperature
   • Fan runtime
10. Tap Save.

Schedule a Vacation Using the Thermostat

Ecobee Smart Thermostat

1. Open the Main Menu.
2. Select Vacation.
3. Tap the Plus (+) icon.
4. Select I Depart and set the departure date and time.
5. Select I Return and set the return date and time.
6. Select Vacation Settings.
7. Configure:
   • Heating temperature
   • Cooling temperature
   • Fan runtime
8. Tap Save.

Ecobee Smart Thermostat Lite and Essential

1. Open the Main Menu.
2. Select Vacation.
3. Tap the Plus (+) icon.
4. Select I Depart.
5. Select I Return.
6. Configure Vacation Settings.
7. Tap Save.

Edit a Vacation Schedule

Using the Ecobee App

1. Open the Ecobee app.
2. Tap Home.
3. Tap Account.
4. Select Vacation.
5. Select the vacation schedule.
6. Make desired changes.
7. Tap Save.

Using the Thermostat

1. Open the Main Menu.
2. Select Vacation.
3. Select the vacation schedule.
4. Make desired changes.
5. Tap Save.

Cancel a Vacation Schedule

Using the Ecobee App

1. Open the Ecobee app.
2. Tap Home.
3. Tap Account.
4. Select Vacation.
5. Select the vacation schedule.
6. Tap Delete Vacation.
7. Confirm deletion.

Using the Thermostat

1. Open the Main Menu.
2. Select Vacation.
3. Select the vacation schedule.
4. Choose Delete Vacation.
5. Confirm removal.

Troubleshooting

Vacation Schedule Not Activating

1. Verify departure date and time are correct.
2. Confirm the vacation was saved successfully.
3. Verify thermostat date and time settings.
4. Check for software updates.

Vacation Schedule Missing

1. Refresh the Ecobee app.
2. Verify the correct thermostat is selected.
3. Check the Vacation menu on the thermostat.
4. Sign out and back into the Ecobee app.

Home Does Not Return to Normal Schedule

1. Verify the return date and time have passed.
2. Check if Vacation Mode is still active.
3. Manually resume the regular schedule if necessary.

Expected Outcome

The Ecobee thermostat enters Vacation Mode during the selected travel period, maintains energy-saving temperature settings while the customer is away, and automatically resumes normal scheduling upon return.
