Overview
Children can use Google Assistant on shared Google Home devices when their supervised Google Account is added to the home and Voice Match is configured.
Supported devices may include:
- Google Nest Speakers
- Google Nest Displays
- Nest Hub Max
- Smart Clocks
- Other Google Assistant-enabled devices
When configured correctly, Google Assistant can provide a more personalized experience while allowing parents to manage content and permissions.

What Children Cannot Do
Children generally cannot:
✗ Make purchases
✗ Access certain restricted features
✗ Use unsupported third-party actions

Add a Child to a Shared Device
Using Family Link
- Open the Family Link app.
- Select your child.
- Tap Controls.
- Tap Google Assistant.
- Tap Add Child To New Devices.
- Select the shared device.
- Follow the setup instructions.
- Complete Voice Match training.
Set Up Voice Match
Voice Match allows Google Assistant to recognize your child's voice and apply personalized settings.

Retrain Voice Match
If Google Assistant is not recognizing your child's voice:
- Open the Family Link app.
- Select your child.
- Tap Controls.
- Tap Google Assistant.
- Select Teach Assistant Voice Again.
- Follow the retraining instructions.
Set Up Face Match
Available on Nest Hub Max only.
Face Match can provide a personalized experience when the device recognizes a child's face.

Personal Results
Personal Results allow Google Assistant to provide information associated with a child's account.
Examples may include:
- Reminders
- Calendar information
- Personalized responses
Parents can enable or disable Personal Results through Family Link.
Remove Voice Match
To remove a child's voice profile:
- Open the Family Link app.
- Select your child.
- Tap Controls.
- Tap Signed-In Devices.
- Select the device.
- Tap Remove Voice Match.
Removing Voice Match also removes personalized voice recognition on that device.
Remove Face Match
For Nest Hub Max devices:
- Open the Family Link app.
- Select your child.
- Tap Controls.
- Tap Signed-In Devices.
- Select Nest Hub Max.
- Tap Remove Face Match.
Best Practices
✓ Use Family Link to manage child accounts.
✓ Enable parental controls before adding devices.
✓ Review content permissions regularly.
✓ Retrain Voice Match if recognition accuracy decreases.
✓ Periodically review device access and personal results settings.
