How do I set, change, or reset my ecobee Smart Security PIN?

Answer:
Your Smart Security PIN allows you to arm and disarm your ecobee Smart Security system directly from your thermostat.

Setting Up Your PIN

If you are new to ecobee Smart Security:

1. Complete Smart Security setup in the ecobee app.
2. Go to your ecobee thermostat.
3. Follow the on-screen prompt to create a 4-digit PIN.

If you already subscribe to ecobee Smart Security:

1. Tap the Shield icon on your thermostat.
2. Select Set Up PIN.
3. Create and confirm your 4-digit PIN.

Once your PIN is created, you can use Arm Away, Arm Stay, and Disarm directly from the thermostat.

Changing Your PIN

On the thermostat:

1. Tap Main Menu.
2. Select General Settings.
3. Select Smart Security.
4. Tap Change PIN.
5. Enter your current PIN.
6. Enter and confirm your new PIN.

Resetting a Forgotten PIN

Using the ecobee app:

1. Open the ecobee app.
2. Go to the Smart Security section.
3. Tap Settings.
4. Select PIN Management.
5. Tap Reset PIN.
6. Follow the prompts to create a new PIN.

Troubleshooting

Issue:
I forgot my PIN.

Solution:
Open the ecobee app and navigate to Settings > PIN Management > Reset PIN.

Issue:
I cannot arm or disarm from the thermostat.

Solution:
Verify that a Smart Security PIN has been created and entered correctly.

Notes:

• The Smart Security PIN is separate from your ecobee account password.
• A PIN is required to change Smart Security armed states from the thermostat.
