Answer:

The SmartCamera with voice control can be connected to Apple Home to take advantage of Apple Home's Secure Video service. This allows recordings from your SmartCamera to be captured and stored securely using iCloud.

Pairing your SmartCamera to Apple Home

To scan the Apple Home QR code:

On the Apple Home App

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Tap Add Accessory.

  3. Locate and scan the Apple Home QR code on the back of the SmartCamera.

To enter the code manually:

On the Apple Home App

  1. Tap the + icon.

  2. Tap Add Accessory.

  3. Tap I Don’t Have a Code or Cannot Scan.

  4. Locate and tap your SmartCamera with voice control from the Nearby Accessories list.

  5. Enter the 8-digit HomeKit code displayed on the Apple Home QR code sticker.

Removing your SmartCamera from Apple Home

On the SmartCamera

  1. Press and hold the top 2 buttons on the SmartCamera until you hear the voice menu.

  2. Release the buttons.

  3. Wait for the voice menu to say “Reset HomeKit.”

  4. Press the Voice Assistant button.

Using Apple Home Secure Video

To access and edit your Apple Home video settings:

  1. Tap the video feed in the Home app.

  2. Tap Settings.

Notifications

• Toggle notifications on or off.
• Receive notifications when certain motion is detected when no one is home.

Streaming & Recording

• Choose what is recorded.
• Change when to record clips.

Activity Zones

• Select an area for the camera to focus on.
• Disregard expected activity like cars driving down a busy street.
• Enable this setting if you want your SmartCamera only to start recording when people are detected within your activity zone.

Face Recognition

• When enabled, you will be notified when people you’ve tagged in the Apple Photos app come within view.

Good to Know

• Apple Home Secure Video requires an Apple Home Hub device running iOS 13.2 or later and a supported iCloud storage plan for storing video clips.
• Recordings are end-to-end encrypted and can only be viewed by other members invited to your Apple Home.
• Clips recorded using Apple Home Secure Video are stored for 10 days in iCloud.
