Answer:

Your ecobee can be configured to send Reminders when maintenance is required and Alerts when heating or cooling equipment may not be operating properly.

Configuring Reminders & Alerts

On the Thermostat

  1. Go to Main Menu > General > Reminders and Alerts > Preferences.

For Smart Thermostat Lite and Essential Owners

  1. Go to Main Menu > Reminders and Alerts > Preferences.

On the ecobee App

  1. Tap Home.
  2. Select the thermostat.
  3. Open Menu.
  4. Select Reminders and Alerts.
  5. Select Alert Preferences or Reminder Preferences.

Reminders

HVAC Maintenance

• Reminder to schedule HVAC service.
• Service reminders may also be sent to the email address used during thermostat registration.

Furnace Filter

• Reminder to clean or replace the furnace filter.

UV Lamp

• Reminder to clean or replace the UV lamp.

Dehumidifier Filter

• Reminder to clean or replace the dehumidifier filter.
• Available only when a dehumidifier is configured.

Humidifier Filter

• Reminder to clean or replace the humidifier filter.
• Available only when a humidifier is configured.

Ventilator Filter

• Reminder to clean or replace the ventilator filter.
• Available only when a ventilator is configured.

Alerts

Low Temperature Alert

• Generates an alert when indoor temperatures fall below the configured threshold.

High Temperature Alert

• Generates an alert when indoor temperatures rise above the configured threshold.

Aux Heat Runtime Alert

• Generates an alert when auxiliary heat runs longer than the configured amount within a 24-hour period.
• Default setting is 3 hours.

Aux Outdoor Temperature Alert

• Generates an alert when auxiliary heat operates above the configured outdoor temperature threshold.

Low Humidity Alert

• Generates an alert when indoor humidity falls below the configured level.

High Humidity Alert

• Generates an alert when indoor humidity rises above the configured level.

Display Alerts on Thermostat

• Select No to prevent alerts from appearing on the thermostat screen.
• Alerts will continue to appear in the ecobee app and by email.

Enable Heating/Cooling Alerts

• Select No to disable heating and cooling error alerts.
• System failed-to-heat and failed-to-cool alerts will not be generated.

Good to Know

• If you unsubscribe from ecobee email communications, reminder and alert emails will no longer be delivered.
• To receive humidity alerts, a compatible humidifier or dehumidifier accessory must be connected.
• AC Overcool Max can be used to help reduce humidity when a dehumidifier is not installed.
• Heat pump threshold settings should follow equipment manufacturer recommendations.
