The ecobee-Mobile Link integration lets you see the status and alerts from your home standby generator, propane tank monitor, or both on your ecobee smart thermostat.

About the ecobee-Mobile Link Integration

What is it?

This feature displays the status of your home standby generator or tank utility monitor on compatible ecobee thermostats.

For homes with a Generac tank monitor, the thermostat can also display the quantity of fuel remaining in the propane tank.

The thermostat can display alerts when action is required to maintain your generator or tank monitor and may provide dealer contact information when available.

Is the feature free?

Users with a compatible ecobee thermostat and a paid Mobile Link subscription can use the integration at no additional cost.

A premium Mobile Link subscription is not required.

Linking Limitations

• One ecobee thermostat can be linked to one generator, one tank monitor, or both.
• Generator and tank monitor information is not currently available in the ecobee app.
• Thermostat information is not currently available in the Mobile Link app.

Setting up the Integration

How do I link an ecobee thermostat to a generator and tank monitor?

On the Mobile Link App:

  1. Open the Mobile Link app.
  2. Select the Add Device icon.
  3. Select Thermostat.
  4. If Thermostat is not displayed, update the Mobile Link app.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. Enter your ecobee account credentials when prompted.
  7. Select the compatible thermostat to complete setup.

Using the Integration

Generator Statuses

Ready to Run

• The generator is ready to operate during a utility outage.

Exercising

• The generator is running its scheduled exercise cycle.

Running

• The generator is actively providing power or operating manually.

Warning

• The generator requires attention but can still operate during a utility outage.

Fault

• The generator has a condition that may prevent operation during a utility outage.

Connectivity Issue

• The generator is not connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.

Unsupported Generator Alerts

• Maintenance reminders
• Generator set to Off position

Propane Tank Monitor Statuses

Good

• Fuel level is above the threshold configured in Mobile Link.

Low

• Fuel level is below the threshold configured in Mobile Link.

Connectivity Issue

• The tank monitor is not connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.

Unsupported Tank Alerts

• Battery level alerts

Why did I receive an alert asking me to contact my dealer?

The thermostat may display alerts for:

• Generator Warning
• Generator Fault
• Generator Connectivity Issue
• Tank Low
• Tank Connectivity Issue

How do I enable or disable alerts?

On the thermostat:

  1. Go to Main Menu.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Generator Status.
  4. Select View Alert Preferences.
  5. Select Disabled to turn alerts off.

How do I unlink a generator or tank monitor?

On the Mobile Link App:

  1. Select the linked thermostat.
  2. Select Unlink from Generator/Tank.

Note:

Factory resetting or unregistering the thermostat will also remove the integration.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the option to link a thermostat.

• Update the Mobile Link app to the latest version.

I don't see my ecobee devices during setup.

• Verify you are signed in with the correct ecobee account.
• Verify the thermostat model is supported.

My generator or tank monitor is offline.

• Follow the reconnection steps provided in the Mobile Link app.

My thermostat does not display the correct generator information.

Currently unsupported:

• Generator Maintenance Reminder
• Generator Set to Off

I do not receive Warning, Fault, or Disconnected alerts.

• Verify alerts are enabled under Main Menu > General > Generator Status/Tank Status.

Good to Know

• Mobile Link integration requires a paid Mobile Link subscription.
• Premium Mobile Link service is not required.
• One thermostat can be linked to one generator, one tank monitor, or both.
• Generator and tank information are displayed on the thermostat, not in the ecobee app.
