Answer:

SmartThings allows you to share control of your devices, rooms, and routines with family members and other trusted users by inviting them to your Location.

Members can control most devices and routines but have limited administrative permissions.

Member Permissions

Members can:

• View devices
• Control devices
• Use routines
• View location information

Members cannot:

• Add or remove other members
• Delete a Location
• Transfer ownership

Members may leave a Location at any time.

Invite a Member to a Location

Before inviting someone:

• Ensure they have installed the SmartThings app.
• Ensure they have signed in using a Samsung Account.

To invite a member:

1. Open the SmartThings app.
2. Tap the Home (?) icon.
3. Select Manage Locations (⚙).
4. Choose the desired Location.
5. Tap Members.
6. Select Invite Member.
7. Send the invitation using a Samsung Account or QR Code.
8. Have the invited user accept the invitation.

View Members of a Location

Both owners and members can view users with access.

1. Open SmartThings.
2. Tap the Home (?) icon.
3. Select Manage Locations (⚙).
4. Choose the Location.
5. Tap Members.

The list will display all users and indicate whether they are the Owner or a Member.

Remove a Member from a Location

Only the Location Owner can remove members.

1. Open SmartThings.
2. Tap the Home (?) icon.
3. Select Manage Locations (⚙).
4. Choose the Location.
5. Tap Members.
6. Tap More Options (⋮).
7. Select Remove Members.
8. Select the member(s) to remove.
9. Tap Remove.
10. Confirm by selecting Remove again.

Leave a Location

Members can remove themselves from a shared Location.

1. Open SmartThings.
2. Tap the Home (?) icon.
3. Select Manage Locations (⚙).
4. Choose the Location.
5. Tap Leave Location.
6. Select Leave to confirm.

Good to Know

• Only one owner exists for each Location.
• Members cannot remove other members.
• Members cannot delete Locations.
• Removing a member immediately removes access to all devices and routines within that Location.
• Users must have a Samsung Account to participate in Location sharing.
• QR code invitations may be used when supported by the SmartThings app.
