Category: Google Nest > Wi-Fi & Connectivity
Answer:
If you change your Wi-Fi network name, password, or replace your router, you'll need to reconnect your Nest Connect to restore communication with your Nest x Yale Lock.
Compatible Devices
• Nest x Yale Lock
• Google Nest Connect
Reconnect to a New Wi-Fi Network
- Bring your phone or tablet into the same room as your Nest Connect.
- Open the Nest app.
- Tap Settings.
- Select Nest Connect.
- Choose the Nest Connect device you want to update.
- Tap Wi-Fi Connection.
- Tap Start.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to connect Nest Connect to the new Wi-Fi network.
Note: The Nest x Yale Lock communicates through Nest Connect. If Nest Connect is offline, the lock may not respond remotely through the app.
Factory Reset and Setup Again
You may need to reset and set up the device again if:
• Nest Connect will not connect to the new Wi-Fi network.
• The lock remains offline after reconnecting.
• Setup repeatedly fails.
• Nest Connect cannot be located in the Nest app.
After resetting:
- Factory reset the Nest x Yale Lock if required.
- Reset or troubleshoot Nest Connect.
- Open the Nest app.
- Add the devices again.
- Complete setup using the new Wi-Fi network.
Troubleshooting
• Verify the new Wi-Fi network is working correctly.
• Confirm the Wi-Fi password is correct.
• Keep your phone close to Nest Connect during setup.
• Restart your router and mobile device.
• Ensure the Nest app is updated to the latest version.
• Complete a factory reset if reconnection continues to fail.
Note: Nest x Yale Locks rely on Nest Connect for remote access and must be reconfigured whenever Wi-Fi credentials or router hardware changes.
