Step 3: Check for Wireless Interference

Nearby electronics can interfere with wireless signals.

Examples include:

  • Microwave ovens
  • Wireless speakers
  • Baby monitors
  • Cordless phones
  • Wi-Fi routers
  • Other 2.4 GHz devices

If possible, move the speaker or display away from these devices.

Step 4: Improve Wi-Fi Signal Strength

If the error occurs frequently:

  1. Move the device closer to the router.
  2. Reduce physical barriers between the device and router.
  3. Verify the device has a strong Wi-Fi signal.
  4. Test again.

Step 5: Verify Internet Connectivity

Confirm that:

✓ Other devices can access the internet.

✓ Streaming services work normally.

✓ Websites load correctly.

✓ The Google Home app shows the device online.

If other devices also have internet issues, the problem is likely with your network connection.

Step 6: Contact Your Internet Provider

If the issue continues after completing the steps above:

  • Contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Check for outages in your area.
  • Verify modem and router firmware are up to date.
  • Ask whether your internet connection is experiencing interruptions.

Best Practices

✓ Keep your router firmware updated.

✓ Place Google devices within range of your Wi-Fi network.

✓ Restart networking equipment periodically.

✓ Avoid placing speakers near devices that generate wireless interference.

✓ Verify internet service is working before troubleshooting Google Assistant.
