Overview
If Google Home cannot find your Google Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, or Google Wifi device during setup, the device may not be ready for setup, may have a temporary connection issue, or may require a factory reset.
Setup Ready Indicators

The device must display the correct setup light before it can be discovered.
Step 1: Restart the Google Home App
- Completely close the Google Home app.
- Reopen the app.
- Start setup again.

Step 2: Verify Bluetooth Permissions (iPhone & iPad)
For Apple devices:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Verify Bluetooth is enabled.
Verify Local Network Access
- Open Settings.
- Tap Privacy.
- Tap Local Network.
- Enable access for Google Home.
Important
Google Home requires Bluetooth and Local Network permissions to discover nearby Wifi devices.
Step 3: Restart the Wifi Device
- Disconnect power from the device.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect power.
- Wait for the setup light.

Step 4: Verify Power Connections
Check:
✓ Power adapter is connected securely.
✓ Wall outlet has power.
✓ Device LEDs illuminate after startup.

Step 5: Verify Ethernet Connections
For routers with Ethernet connections:
- Confirm the Ethernet cable is connected securely.
- Verify the modem is powered on.
- Verify the cable connects between the modem and router.
Important
Nest Wifi points do not have Ethernet ports.
Step 6: Connect Directly to the Device
- Open Wi-Fi settings on your phone.
- Locate the temporary setup network listed on the sticker underneath the device.
- Connect using the setup code printed on the device.
- Return to the Google Home app.
- Continue setup.

Step 7: Factory Reset the Device
If the device still cannot be found:
- Perform a factory reset.
- Wait for reset completion.
- Verify the setup light appears.
- Restart setup in Google Home.
Important
Factory reset may take up to 10 minutes.
Do not begin setup until the reset process is completely finished.

When to Contact Support
Contact support if:
- Device never enters setup mode.
- LEDs do not illuminate.
- Device cannot be discovered after reset.
- Setup repeatedly fails on multiple devices.
