Google Wifi – Change Who Can Manage Your Wi-Fi Network

Overview

You can grant or remove access for other people to help manage your Google Wifi or Nest Wifi network.

Anyone you give access to can view network information and manage Wi-Fi settings based on their permission level.

Important: Only invite people you trust since they may be able to change network settings and manage access for other users.

Google Home App Networks

For Google Nest Wifi and Google Wifi networks managed through the Google Home app:

Home Members have the same level of access as the home owner.

They can:

• View Wi-Fi network information
• Change Wi-Fi passwords
• Pause or resume internet access for devices
• Manage connected devices
• Add or remove home members
• Control supported smart home devices

Add a Home Member

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Home Members.
4. Tap Invite Person.
5. Enter the person's Google Account email address.
6. Send the invitation.
7. Once accepted, the person can help manage the home and Wi-Fi network.

Remove a Home Member

1. Open the Google Home app.
2. Tap Settings.
3. Select Home Members.
4. Select the member.
5. Tap Remove Member.
6. Confirm removal.

Google Wifi App Networks

For networks originally created in the Google Wifi app:

• One owner controls the network.
• Additional users can be assigned as managers.
• Managers can view network information and modify settings.
• Managers cannot factory reset devices.
• Managers cannot add new Wifi devices.

Important

The Google Wifi app is now read-only.

To make network changes, migrate your Google Wifi network to the Google Home app and manage it there.

Security Recommendations

Only share access with trusted family members or household members.

Anyone with management access may be able to:

• Change Wi-Fi passwords
• Pause internet access
• Modify network settings
• View connected devices
• Manage other users
