Overview
Google Wifi networks can now be managed through the Google Home app. Network management features are no longer available in the Google Wifi app.
After migration, you can:
- Manage your Wi-Fi network
- Add and remove home members
- Run speed tests
- Manage parental controls
- View connected devices
- Configure network settings
Important
Migration cannot be reversed.
Before You Begin
Verify the following:
✓ You are using the Google Account that owns the Google Wifi network.
✓ The Google Home app is installed and updated.
✓ The Wi-Fi network is online.
✓ A Google Home home has been created.
Important
The Google Home app supports one Wi-Fi network per home.
If you manage multiple Wi-Fi networks, create a separate Google Home home for each network.
Migrate Your Network
Step 1: Open Google Home
- Open the Google Home app.
- Sign in with the same Google Account used in the Google Wifi app.
Step 2: Import Your Network
- Tap Add Device or Service.
- Tap Import Google Wifi Network.
- Tap Next.
- Select the home where the network will be migrated.
- Confirm the network.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.

After Migration
Once migration is complete:
✓ Network settings become available in Google Home.
✓ Connected devices become visible in Google Home.
✓ Parental controls are managed through Google Home.
✓ Speed tests can be run from Google Home.
✓ Google Wifi app management features are replaced by Google Home management.
Manage Home Members
Existing Google Wifi managers are not automatically retained.
After migration:
- Open Google Home.
- Open Home Settings.
- Add household members.
- Assign permissions.

Migration Troubleshooting
"Import Google Wifi Network" Is Missing
Verify:
✓ You are signed in with the network owner's Google Account.
✓ A Google Home home has been created.
✓ The Google Home app is updated.
No Networks Available To Migrate
This may occur if:
- The network was already migrated.
- The network was originally created in Google Home.
- You are signed in with the wrong account.
Fix
- Verify the network owner account.
- Switch accounts in Google Home.
- Retry the migration process.
Migration Fails
Migration may fail if:
- The Wi-Fi network is offline.
- Devices are disconnected.
- Internet service is unavailable.
Fix
- Verify Google Wifi devices are powered on.
- Confirm internet service is active.
- Confirm the network appears online in the Google Wifi app.
- Retry migration.
Migrate a Network for Someone Else
If you manage a family member's network:
- Join their Google Home home as an Admin.
- Migrate the network into their home.
- Add them as an Admin.
- Verify they can manage the network.
- Leave the home if desired.
