Overview
Google Wifi creates a mesh Wi-Fi network that helps provide wireless coverage throughout your home.
Before setup, ensure your modem is connected to the internet and all Google Wifi devices are available for installation.
Requirements
You will need:
✓ Google Wifi device(s)
✓ Active internet service
✓ Compatible modem
✓ Google Account
✓ Google Home app
✓ Ethernet cable
✓ Power adapter for each Google Wifi device
Important
If a Google Wifi device was previously used on another network, perform a factory reset before setup.
Set Up Your Primary Google Wifi Point
Step 1: Choose a Location
For best performance:
- Place the primary Wifi point near the modem.
- Position it at eye level.
- Avoid enclosed cabinets.
- Keep it in an open area.

Step 2: Connect Hardware
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the WAN port on the Google Wifi point.
- Connect the other end to the modem.
- Plug the Google Wifi point into power.
- Wait approximately 90 seconds.
- Confirm the light pulses blue.
A pulsing blue light indicates the device is ready for setup.
Step 3: Add the Device
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap Add.
- Tap Device.
- Scan the QR code on the Google Wifi device.
If the QR code cannot be scanned:
- Tap Use Setup Code.
- Enter the setup code manually.

Step 4: Complete Setup
Follow the prompts in the Google Home app to:
- Name the network
- Create a Wi-Fi password
- Assign the device to a home
- Finish setup
Add Additional Google Wifi Points
Additional Wifi devices extend coverage and become mesh points.
Add a Point
- Place the new point where additional coverage is needed.
- Plug it into power.
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap Add.
- Tap Device.
- Scan the QR code.
- Complete setup.

After setup:
- Open the Google Home app.
- Follow the prompts for the mesh test.
- Verify all Wifi points communicate successfully.

Troubleshooting Setup
If setup fails:
Verify Requirements
✓ Internet service is active.
✓ Modem is online.
✓ Google Home app is updated.
✓ Device is powered on.
✓ Device was factory reset if previously used.
Additional Troubleshooting
- Force close the Google Home app.
- Reopen the app.
- Restart the Google Wifi device.
- Restart the modem.
- Restart your phone or tablet.
- Forget unused Wi-Fi networks.
- Try setup from another mobile device.
