Overview

Voice Match and Face Match help Google Assistant or Gemini for Home recognize individual users and provide personalized information such as calendars, reminders, contacts, and recommendations.

You can remove Voice Match or Face Match from a specific device, an entire home, or your Google Account at any time.


Remove Voice Match or Face Match from a Home

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Profile Picture or Initial.
  3. Select Home Settings.
  4. Tap Google Assistant or Gemini for Home Voice Assistant.
  5. Select Voice Match or Face Match.
  6. Tap Remove Voice Match from This Home or Remove Face Match from This Home.
  7. Confirm by tapping Remove.

Remove Voice Match or Face Match from a Specific Device

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Profile Picture or Initial.
  3. Select Home Settings.
  4. Tap Google Assistant or Gemini for Home Voice Assistant.
  5. Select Voice Match or Face Match.
  6. Locate the device you want to update.
  7. Uncheck the box next to the device.
  8. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete removal.

Remove Voice Match or Face Match from Your Google Account

This removes Voice Match or Face Match from all supported devices connected to your Google Account.

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap your Profile Picture or Initial.
  3. Select Home Settings.
  4. Tap Google Assistant or Gemini for Home Voice Assistant.
  5. Select Voice Match or Face Match.
  6. Tap Manage Your Voice Match Settings or Manage Your Face Match Settings.
  7. Select Turn Off.

Delete Voice Match and Face Match Enrollment Data

To permanently remove enrollment recordings and images:

  1. Open My Activity in your Google Account.
  2. Tap Menu.
  3. Select Other Activity.
  4. Locate Voice and Face Match Enrollment.
  5. Tap View Data.
  6. Select Delete All Enrollments.
  7. Confirm deletion.

Important Notes

  • Removing Voice Match prevents Google from recognizing your voice for personalized results.
  • Removing Face Match prevents supported displays from recognizing your face for personalized content.
  • Removing Voice Match or Face Match from one device does not automatically remove enrollment data from your Google Account.
  • Newly added compatible devices may automatically use existing Voice Match or Face Match settings linked to your account.

When Should You Remove Voice Match or Face Match?

Consider removing Voice Match or Face Match when:

  • Selling or giving away a device
  • Moving to a new home
  • Removing household members
  • Troubleshooting recognition issues
  • Updating privacy preferences

Troubleshooting

Voice Match Still Appears Active

Verify that Voice Match has been removed from both:

  • The device
  • Your Google Account

Face Match Still Recognizes You

Delete Face Match enrollment data from your Google Account and restart the device.

Personalized Results Still Appear

Check whether Personal Results remain enabled on the device and disable them if needed.
