Ring Extended Live View - Setup, Compatibility, and Usage

Purpose

Use this procedure when a customer wants to use Extended Live View, verify device compatibility, or understand subscription requirements for longer Live View sessions.

Customer Symptoms

Customer wants to:

  • Use Extended Live View
  • Keep Live View active longer
  • Verify if their Ring device supports Extended Live View
  • Understand subscription requirements
  • Determine why Live View ends early

What Is Extended Live View?

Extended Live View allows compatible Ring devices to remain in Live View for up to 30 minutes at a time.

Feature availability depends on:

  • Compatible Ring devices
  • Eligible Ring subscription plans
  • Network connectivity
  • Device performance

Requirements

Customers must have:

  • A compatible Ring device
  • An eligible Ring subscription
  • Active internet connectivity

Compatible Devices

Extended Live View is supported on select:

  • Ring Video Doorbells
  • Ring Battery Doorbells
  • Ring Wired Doorbells
  • Ring Indoor Cameras
  • Ring Outdoor Cameras
  • Ring Stick Up Cameras
  • Ring Floodlight Cameras
  • Ring Spotlight Cameras

Verify device compatibility within the Ring app if needed.

Configuration Steps

Access Extended Live View

  1. Open the Ring app.
  2. Select the desired device.
  3. Tap Go Live.
  4. Continue viewing for up to 30 minutes when supported.
  5. Select End Live when finished.

End Live View

  1. Tap End Live.
  2. Or close the Live View screen.

Additional Features

Extended Live View may be used with:

  • Multi-Cam Live View on Ring.com
  • Picture-in-Picture Live View within the Ring app

Shared User Access

Shared Users may use Extended Live View when:

  • The account owner has an eligible subscription.
  • The device supports Extended Live View.
  • Shared User permissions are active.

Troubleshooting Steps

Extended Live View Not Available

  1. Verify the device is compatible.
  2. Verify the subscription plan is eligible.
  3. Verify the device is online.
  4. Update the Ring app if necessary.
  5. Restart the Live View session.

Live View Ends Early

  1. Check internet connectivity.
  2. Verify Wi-Fi signal strength.
  3. Confirm the device remains online.
  4. Test again after improving network conditions.

Expected Outcome

Customer can access Live View for extended viewing periods on compatible Ring devices using an eligible Ring subscription.
