How do I pair my ecobee thermostat with a Bluetooth speaker?
Answer:
Compatible ecobee thermostats can connect to Bluetooth speakers, allowing audio from Alexa, music, podcasts, and other thermostat audio to play through the paired speaker.

Configuration Steps
On the thermostat:
- Confirm Alexa is connected.
- Select Main Menu.
- Select Microphone.
- Verify Alexa is linked.
- Confirm the thermostat is not already paired with a Bluetooth speaker.
- If needed, say "Alexa, disconnect from Bluetooth."
- Place the speaker and thermostat at least three feet apart.
On the Alexa App:
- Open the Alexa app.
- Select Devices.
- Select Echo & Alexa.
- Select your linked ecobee thermostat.
- Select Bluetooth Devices.
- Select Pair a New Device.
- Put the Bluetooth speaker into pairing mode.
- When the speaker appears in the Alexa app, select it to pair.
If pairing is successful, all thermostat audio will play through the Bluetooth speaker.
Unpairing a Bluetooth Speaker
Say:
"Alexa, disconnect from Bluetooth."
The thermostat will disconnect from the paired speaker.
Reconnecting a Bluetooth Speaker
- Verify the speaker is powered on.
- Verify the speaker is not connected to another device.
- Say:
"Alexa, connect to Bluetooth."
The thermostat will attempt to reconnect to the previously paired speaker.
Troubleshooting
Issue:
Bluetooth speaker does not appear during pairing.
Solution:
Verify the speaker is in pairing mode and located within range of the thermostat.
Issue:
Pairing times out.
Solution:
Restart pairing mode on the speaker and repeat the pairing process from the Alexa app.
Issue:
Audio is not playing through the speaker.
Solution:
Verify the thermostat is connected to the Bluetooth speaker and that the speaker is powered on and connected.
Notes:
• Bluetooth pairing is only available on supported ecobee models with built-in speakers.
• A successful connection is indicated by a Bluetooth icon beside the speaker name in the Alexa app.
• If no devices are found during pairing, the Alexa app will display a timeout message.
