If you change your Wi-Fi network name, password, or replace your router, you must reconnect your Google Nest speaker or display to the new network.

Connect to a New Wi-Fi Network

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Make sure your phone or tablet is signed into the same Google account as the device.
  3. Tap Home.
  4. Select the device you want to update.
  5. Tap and hold the device tile.
  6. Tap Settings.
  7. Tap Device Information.
  8. Tap Wi-Fi.
  9. Select Forget This Network.
  10. Return to the Google Home home screen.
  11. Tap Add.
  12. Tap Device.
  13. Tap Search for Device.
  14. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the device to the new Wi-Fi network.

Factory Reset and Set Up Again

You may need to reset and set up the device again if:

• The device will not disconnect from the old network.
• You receive a "Could not communicate with your device" error.
• Network settings cannot be changed in the Google Home app.
• The device will not connect to the new Wi-Fi network.

After resetting:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Add.
  3. Tap Device.
  4. Follow the setup instructions.
  5. Connect the device to the new Wi-Fi network.

Troubleshooting

• Verify the phone is connected to the new Wi-Fi network.
• Confirm you are signed into the correct Google account.
• Move the device closer to the router during setup.
• Restart the device and Google Home app.
• Complete a factory reset if setup continues to fail.

Note: Changing Wi-Fi networks does not transfer automatically. The device must be reconnected through the Google Home app whenever network credentials change.
