Overview
Many Google Home setup, connection, and device discovery issues occur when a phone, tablet, or Google device is connected to a different Wi-Fi network.
For device setup and management, your mobile device and Google device should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Step 1: Check Your Phone or Tablet Wi-Fi Network

- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & Internet.
- Tap Internet.
- Locate the network marked Connected.
- Note the Wi-Fi network name.

Step 2: Check Your Google Device Wi-Fi Network
- Open the Google Home app.
- Tap Home.
- Tap All Devices.
- Touch and hold the device tile.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Device Information.
- Review the connected Wi-Fi network name.

Compare Both Networks
The Wi-Fi network shown on your mobile device should match the network shown for your Google device.

If the network names are different:
- Connect your phone or tablet to the correct Wi-Fi network.
- Or update the Google device to use the correct network.
- Verify both devices show the same network name.
- Retry setup or troubleshooting steps.

Common Symptoms of a Network Mismatch
- Device setup fails
- Device appears offline
- Device cannot be discovered

Special Note for Pixel Tablet Charging Speaker Dock
The Charging Speaker Dock does not maintain its own separate Wi-Fi connection.
To determine the network being used:
- Check the Wi-Fi connection of the attached Pixel Tablet.
- Verify the tablet is connected to the correct network.

✓ Verify network names before troubleshooting other issues.
✓ Avoid connecting devices to guest networks unless intended.
